Melissa:
Can some please explain to me why this:
Pope Benedicts XVI's Astronomer says Catholic Church Welcomes Aliens
is okay, but Yoga is not.
Vatican's Top Exorcist says Yoga is Satanic.
Discuss. In the meantime, I'm watching American Horror Story.

Music Monday
Melissa:
Now for something entirely different: Numbers- Please the Senses.
So this is our friend's band. That's Victor the drummer. Our friend is actually Ryan the bassist. While screamo/metal is completely not my style of music, I like supporting friends! Also Rachel and I saw them play this weekend, which was pretty rad and hella fun!
Rachel:
Awesome metal bands with cute drummers aside, (Numbers is great! If you're in the Seattle area CHECK. THEM. OUT!!) another band we saw play that night was Pink Bead Federation.
Yes it stands for what you think it stands for.
Not my typical genre of music (rap/metal), it was fucking brilliant. White guy rappers you scoff? Shame on you, these guys are sick.
New theme song? I think so.
Melissa:
Rachel, I can't believe you found this....

Dear Diary
Dear Diary,
Today I ate ramen, ice cream, and now I'm a little drunk.
XOXO, Melissa
Dear Diary,
So heating pads...not so much heat, more like it's rearranging the atoms in my back.
XOXO, Burger Mouth
Dear Diary,
This week I learned that watching American Horror Story is bad for my health. I'm now a tad scared of the ghosties in my house. (Lets be friends?) Also of people from the south. Weeeeeeeeeeee paranormal things!!!

Happy Thanksgiving
Every year (and by every year, I mean for the past 2 or 3 years) Harmony's requires us to say what we are thankful for. One year, it was thankful we weren't dead because we got lost in Parisian suburbs that day. The next year it was that we were still friends. This year, I'm thankful that we graduated college, moved cross-country and became somewhat successful, proving that we didn't waste four years of our lives. I'm also grateful that we didn't die/kill anyone/wind up in jail during that process. And lastly, I'm grateful that we're still friends, even if we are bi-coastal. I'm also thankful for friends who will sit around in onsies with me and watch movies.
XOXO, Melissa
Dear Quadriforce,
You are the thing I am thankful for this Thanksgiving. I'm sad we're on opposite coasts, and even though I hardly (if ever) show I care, IdoIdoIdo.
Harms, I miss you mucho and wish you were with us everyday.
This song keeps running through my head (below). It wont stop. I am so blessed to have all of you. Honestly, I don't know what I would be, where I would be, without all of you. I love you all so very much.
Happy Thanksgiving!
XOXO Rachel T.

Harmony's Literate Moment
So once upon a time there was this little girl named Matilda and her parents were terrible to her and her principal was a bitch too. But luckily she had magic powers and a really nice teacher. I think the Great Gatsby is quite uplifting actually.

Dear Diary
Dear Diary,
Today I got solicited by three different men to eat out, drink whiskey, and have pie. I'm only accepting the eating out ;)
XOXO, Melissa
Dear Diary,
This week I run forever in both directions. Space is an endless void where stars blink in and out of existence, just like me. I am condemned to an island while the old are condemned to the shore. He lives just beyond the dirty brown tunnel with the mesh gate. I cannot stay in his world for long and he cannot stay in mine. So we meet in that place just between sleep and awake.

Gonna be rough
Harmony:
Ok, I just need to state the obvious,Thanksgiving is this week and Rachel's bday (although she doesn't like to draw attention to it)
And Thanksgiving is a special holiday for the Quadriforce. This year as I sit at a table with people who have known me since birth but don't really know me (aside from my dad) I will sit in silence and have sadness in my heart that i'm not with the rest of the quad. It's so strange to think this will be the first Thanksgiving in 3 years I haven't spent it with Katie and 2 years with Melissa and Rachel. I miss and love you girls and I know we'll spend a Tofurkey Day together again real soon.
Melissa:
I love you Harmony!

Rachel's Religious Rant
In my upbringing I was taught to never ask about a persons political views, religion, or what they did for a living. None of these things should be reasons for judging a person.
Like my day job, my religion (or lack thereof) does not define who I am. I do not understand society's need to place me into a category. "So.....what are you?" I get asked everywhere I go when the topic of religion or spirituality arises.
"Um...well my Mom's a minister so I was raised Christian...." I always trail off, mostly because I don't really know what to say. 'I don't fit into a category' gets barking sarcastic laughs and harsh criticisms.
"Yea but you're like, Pagan right?" my best friend always asks. She's a hard-ass Roman Catholic and I swear her brain is all RACHEL MUST BE CATEGORIZED OR DELETED. REPEAT. RACHEL MUST BE CATEGORIZED OR DELETED...
I enjoy the idea of a God and Goddess living in harmony. I love the four elements, candle work, wands, the outdoors, faeries, Greek god/goddess's worship, Selene, Hecate, Artemis, Pan, and Helios.
But I'm not Pagan.
I like the idea of Christianity. I like the songs sung in church. My favorite Bible passage is Psalms 23:4. I love anything having to do with Moses and the mass exodus out of Egypt. I love the Bible as a creation story not to be taken as literally as some people do.
But I'm not a Christian.
I like the idea of Kundalini. I love love LOVE Kundalini Yoga. (The oldest known form of yoga.) I like that it helps you focus on the transformation of you. I like the chanting, the praying, and the self reflection.
But I'm not Hindu or Buddhist.
So yea. I follow moon cycles and sing Christmas carols. The Mists of Avalon and Siddhartha are my two go-to spiritual books. I have three crosses and a pentacle hanging on my wall right next to a poster of Merlin and the Lady of the Lake. I have seven tiny glass, wooden, and jade elephants for good luck and a alter set up in my closet. I own Caribbean and Chinese good luck charms. I love singing spirituals.
At the end of the day, I believe that people corrupt religion for their own selfish purposes. I love that this world has so many options of worship for everyone. I hate how religion rips apart family's and starts never ending wars. That people use God/Goddesses names for their own evil doings.
I believe that you are wrong about religion. I believe I am wrong about religion. I believe we're arguing over something that wont matter in the end. Mostly, I believe we're missing the whole damn point.
No, I don't know what that point is, but that's the beauty of life.

Rachel:
Only the best song of all time. OF. ALL. TIME.
Dela ( I Think I Know Why The Dog Howls At The Moon) By Johnny Clegg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggDNKrTsKv0
Fun Face #1 Dela means 'Content' in Swahili. It's direct translation is 'Share' but it's used the same way our word 'content' is used
Fun Fact #2 All the Swahili in George of the Jungle is translated correctly.
Melissa:
This is the opening to the show I'm going to be in! I'm so excited! And yes, I can dance that whole thing.
Fun Fact #3: Rachel knows that the Swahili is properly translated because she made a Tanzanian guy we met translate everything for her.

Dear Diary
Dear Diary,
Today I got the dream role of my life. I'm Connie in A Chorus Line! I'm getting paid and everything. Seattle was the second best idea ever! (London was the first).
XOXO, Melissa
Dear Diary,
Today I realized that even though Sam Seaborn (Rob Lowe) is the hottest guy in The West Wing, I totally have a super crush on dorky Josh Lyman (Bradley Whitford). Is this my curse Diary? Brain over Brawn? Who wired me this way!!
XOXO Rachel

Fashion Friday!
Rachel:
It's no secret that I'm obsessed with the faerie realm, the Seelie, and Unseelie courts. My favorite Midwest summer festival is the World of the Faerie Festival where I get to dress up in faerie fashion, dance around to lutes, guitars, and bells, and talk in enigmas.
I think I'm a happier person because of faeries, and I wish I could don their clothing more often.
One(out of many) of my favorite faerie sites:

PS- Beef Tongue Tacos are delicious!

One upon a time not so long ago there was a little girl named Madeline and she wore a cute outfit to school complete with a little hat and the Glass Menagerie is a really enjoyable read :)
Opening Night!
Melissa:
It's the opening of my first professional show in Seattle, Bean The Musical Fruit with quiet productions. It's a kid/family show about...well..a Bean. And I'm Bean! Wish me luck!

Music Monday
Rachel:
My BFF's favorite composer is Mozart. I enjoy Mozart and what he did for the word (Rock Me Amadeus for one XD ) but I'm more of a Bach and Tchaikovsky girl. (The 1812 Overture has cannons...down with Napoleon BoomDiddyBoom!) And anything in the Baroque period really.... I hate to bring up Beethoven because everybody likes Beethoven. Yea, I like Beethoven. Not as much as my man Tchaikovsky, or as Badass Bach, but unfortunately Beethoven composed my favorite classical piece of all time. The Symphony No. 6 in F major, AKA The Pastoral Symphony.
Yes, I did just link you to a clip of Fantasia. Deal.
Yes, I did just link you to a clip of Fantasia. Deal.
This piece is so utterly beautiful I could sit and listen to it for hours on end. Which I sometimes do because Katie has it on record and I dance every time the Na Na Na Na nanananana part comes on. That's the section in Part III which is suppose to represent folk and country dancing?
You know the one.
Melissa:
So in keeping with Rachel's classic soundtracks, here's a track from one of my favorite movies, which I'm currently watching at this very moment.
Elizabeth the Virgin Queen is a made-for-TV movie from England. I watched it on Masterpiece Theatre a few years ago. I'm also reading a biography about Queen Elizabeth 1. I'm a little obsessed with her, I won't lie. And this song is so wonderful, and oddly catchy. Listen to it, and you too will be humming along!

Fashion Friday!
Melissa:
So I know Halloween is over. But now I'm finding everyone's Halloween pics online and I couldn't resist adding some for my Fashion Friday. Why? Because I love Coco and Ice-T, and because Heidi Klum in a skin costume is cooler than Lady Gaga in a meat dress any day![]() | |
This is so cool, and so bizarre at the same time. Michael Kors is dying somewhere |

Heidi Klum and Seal. Bitch is crazy! |

So once upon a time there was a girl and her mom was mean and kept her in a tower and all that she had to be happy about was her long blonde hair that would hang down from the tower....man. The Color Purple is really depressing.
