It's Going To Be A Happy New Year.

Rachel:
I was planning on writing a post on New Year's resolutions but my friend Erik beat me to it.

Erik is part owner of the blog Two Gays A Girl And A Pizza Place. He posted all I wanted to say about New Years and resolutions.
That bitch.

But seriously I love him. He's adorable (and single gentleman, good looking and single...I think.) and expresses things in a honest way I never could. Click on this link for his New Year's Post:

If I have to make a New Year Resolution (Which is stupid because I make resolutions year round.) It would be this.

Never Knowingly Be Serious.

Drive safe and blast music as loud as you can So long '11 and helloooooooooooooo 2012!!!

Fashion Friday!

Rachel:
I love military inspired fashion. And it scares me to say, the Russian's do it the best These are all from designers in Russia. In Soviet Russia, you don't design clothes-the clothes design you. T_T

Merry Christmas!!

Harmony:
Hello! Holiday Greetings from the east coast! Our friend Kevin spent the holidays with me, here are some photos of our adventures.

Music Monday

Rachel:
Brendan got me The Marshall Mathers LP on vinal for Christmas.

I love him.

My love for Marshall AKA Slim Shady AKA Eminem is very very deep. I could go on and on for days about his brilliant rhymes, his lyrical geniusry, his general love of comic books and his dorkyness. But I wont. Instead here are 3 of my favorite (out of a a zillion favorite) Emimen songs.

1. Music Box, Relapse: Refill
(This is not Eminem's greatest album. If I were to ever murder a man, I would play this song. It's creepy that way.)

2. The Real Slim Shady, The Marshall Mathers
(Slim Shady is the first Eminem song I heard. In 4th grade {By the time they hit fourth grade/They got the Discovery Channel don't they/}, I was TOTALLY HOOKED! I remember thinking But if we can hump dead animals and antelopes/then there's no reason that a man/ and another man can't elope- this man is genius. Plus Kathy Griffin and David Anders are in the music video. Anyway, Best.)

3. Love the Way You Lie, Recovery
(This song is made of beauty and perfection. I can't tell you what it really is, I can only tell you what it feels like...)

Actual Christmas!

Melissa:
Yep, I got drunk last night and cooked bunches of things. There is so much food in my house we could eat for....3 hours, then throw up because everything is sugar based. I'm ok with this.

In the meantime, a video from The Muppets' Christmas Carol, my favorite Christmas movie ever!

Rachel already posted this one from Tiny Tim, but I don't care because it's awesome!

Enjoy your Christmas! We will be in onesies all day watching: Muppet Christmas Carol, Love Actually the Vicar of Dibley Christmas episode, LOTR Two Towers, Prince of Egypt (getting other religions covered), then maybe Mean Girls. Merry Christmas!

Rachel:
What we watched on Christmas.
1. The Muppet Christmas Carol (Please sir we want some cheese!)
2. Arrested Development Christmas Episode (Marry Me!)
3. Vicar of Dibley Christmas Episode ( I love you Herod!)
4. Family Guy Christmas Episode (I would like more lemon pledge..)
5. Scott Pilgrim VS The World (Milk and eggs bitch!)
6. Doctor Who Christmas Special (Do you know the difference between wind and trees talking?)
7. Love Actually (So should we give her the Barbie that looks like a transvestite or a dominatrix?)
8. The Two Towers: Extended Edition (Boil mash 'em stick 'em in a stew.)

Happy Holidays.

CHLOROFORM PARTY!

Melissa:
So we started making video sketches. This is the first one. We made this with our friend Brendan. Hope you enjoy (ps- this is based off a true story).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARMONY

Melissa:
HAPPY 23RD!!! It's Harmony's birthday today, and we're sad she's not with us. This is a picture of better times, in onsies, at her mom's house on Thanksgiving in Pagosa Springs. Chances are, we just went to the springs and are about to watch RuPaul's Drag Race. Oh, if only this could be today!

Love you, Harm! You're not the Baby anymore!

Harmony's Literate Moment

There once was a very mean, terrible and probably perpetually constipated man named Ebineezer Scrooge. He did not know the true meaning of Christmas and so he was visited by 3 ghosts. It's truly an uplifting story so I hope this holiday season you and yours will sit down and read I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, and take in the wonder that is Christmas time.

Melissa's Food Blog

Melissa:
I keep a food blog that also follows bits of my life. It's mainly for my mom, but I know a few other people read it! Anyway, I write about what's going on in my life, as well as what I've been cooking recently. I hope some of you enjoy it, or at least enjoy the food!

Don't Feed the Actor

Rachel:
Ok people, I read this blog and steal the recipes. You better check it out.

Music Monday

Melissa:
So it's almost Christmas and I haven't gotten to hear any Christmas songs, really. Maybe it's because Seattle is so stinking PC that Christmas songs are kinda city-wide banded, in favor of "Happy Holidays". Which is great, except Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer doesn't give a damn if he's delivering Christmas Presents, Holiday Presents, or probably even Chanukah Presents. So in honor of the Holidays, Christmas, Xmas, Kwanza, or whatever, I'm posting a few of my Holiday favorites!

Silent Night (in Gaelic. Of course by Enya!)

Carol Of the Bells- by the Celtic Women. I love Celtic Women, laugh all you want.

"Oh Holy Night"- by Nsync. It's Rachel's favorite Christmas song, and I definitely saw this when it aired on TV.

Rachel:
Melissa knows me too well because it IS my favorite christmas song and I've never heard *NSYNC do it do that was a early X-mas present to me. Here are some of my other favorite X-mas songs.

Just because.

Only Burl Ives can sing this song in utter perfection.

Anything by Bing or Frank really.
Happy Kwanzahanachristmaska!

Dear Diary

Dear Diary,
All I want is to curl up in a comfy chair in a room lit by dripping white candles surrounded by hundreds of piles-I'm talking floor to the ceiling hard to walk through piles-of books. And I want all the time in the universe to read them all.
XOXO Rachel.

Dear Diary,
I was so tired from work I forgot to post a Dear Diary. Happy Belated Post!
XOXO, Melissa

Fashion Friday!

Melissa:
So everyone is aware, I am super freaking crafty. Blame my mom for making coin Carol Duvall crafts as a kid, or blame the fact that I am 5 feet tall and decided at 15 that I should probably learn to hem my own damn pants. Anyway, because I'm crafty and shit, I don't find it necessary to buy nice things/most anything. A lot of my stuff is second hand (cos I can make it better) or I made it myself. I also never feel the need to get new things, because I fix the old things that I love. Now to my point:

I have had this Loop NYC Andy Warhol Banana Bag since high school. I begged for it for Christmas or something like that. And I was pretty much only of 10 people in my high school who got the Andy Warhol/Velvet Underground reference, so I felt extra pretentious carrying it. This is what it's supposed to look like, complete with Edie Sedgwick Ribbon (which is now a magnet), and a mini-banana coin purse (which has since been lost in my room back in TX.) I'm infamous for this banana bag, mostly because I also carry a banana lip gloss bag (from Japan), and real bananas as well.

This is me with said bag in California a few years ago. As you can see on the outside, it's still in decent condition. Except for shortly after this, I had to create a lining because the bottom had a bunch of holes due to excessive pens poking through.

Being a tourist. Also, my boobs look great!

And now, I have to fix the strap! Basically, the moral of the story is that old things are sometimes still the best things! But if I had to choose another bag (coughcoughChristmascough) it'd be this:

Or I might just make this! More to come, me and crafty shit!

Rachel:
I'm not crafty and thrifty like Melissa but I am thefty.
This Treemotel shirt from a stupid slow moving freshman. Because I. Love. This. Band.
This from a Prime Arc in London because I didn't have any cash.  Buttons not included.

And this from a Nature Preserve in 2nd grade because our teacher told us not to touch anything.

P.S. I took that picture where Melissa looks like a tourist. I call it Not-A-Tourist.

Music Monday

Rachel
I don't know what era I'm from. I feel like I fit well in the 1600's, the 1800's the 1920/30's and the 1960's. With these decades come a familiarity that I've not yet felt in my life as a 90's child and a millennium teen. (All love for cheesy 90's pop music and Eminem  aside...)
Let's go decade by decade shall we?

1. 1600's. Baroque music. ALL OF IT. ALL THE TIME. .
2. 1800's. Waltzes. Elegant Dancing, sophistication.
3. 1920/30's. Benny Goodman, and all that good ragtime fun.
4. 1960's. Beatlemania. Green Tambourine's and The British Invasion.

Do any of you feel like you don't fit in this era?

Melissa:
So this is a Treemotel Video (go back like the first Music Monday; it's our friends' band and we love them!) But I recently asked which song means the most to me. And it's this one. I don't know why, but it is. It's the one I play on repeat in the car when I'm in a mood, any mood, and I need a slow song. I love it.

Fashion Friday

Rachel:
For me, before there was Weetzie, there was Gingerbread. If Gingerbread (AKA Cyd) is punk rock, then Weetzie is glam rock. These two girls are the essence of style for me. And if you don't know who these girls are, look them up. Weezie's last name is Bat.
Gingerbread

Weetzie

Gingerbread

Weetzie
Melissa:
So how about some homemade/marthastewart-esque fashion? It's the holiday season, and we three in Seattle are decorating our homes. We bought a tree, we hung some lights, we added ribbon. And then I made this lovely contraption:

It's a wreath made out of a book I got, for free, on Halloween. It's a book all about love, and quotes about love and all you need is love. Anyway, basically, I cut out a Holly Leaf shaped stencil, and cut out the book. Then I glued them to a doughnut shape I cut out of a paper bag. I am a genius. Just saying. Now I have a year round wreath!

Music Monday

Rachel:
To quote Harmony Joy "I was such a Kathy last night." In this state worse than death, I would like to talk about what tunes to play whilst in this Post-Kathy predicament

1. Loreena McKennitt. Loreena's music will make you feel like you're in a Avalonian trance rather than a sloshed ball of pain.
2. Sufjan Stevens. For some reason, Sufjan gets rid of headaches.
3. Peter Paul & Mary. Because they are calming as fuck

Remember, drink lots of water, get protein into your system, and put those earphones on just in case your roommates are in a worst Post-Kathy state than you.
You're welcome.

Melissa:
So yesterday my friends and I went out for karaoke. For some reason karaoke is huge up in Seattle and it seems to be everywhere. Anyway, I'm posting this song because 1) iloveitiloveitiloveitiloveit, and 2) it's now my go-to karaoke song.

Dear Diary

Dear Diary,
Even if you are the sweetest, most kindly, loyal, beautiful, lovely, selfless person in the world, there is no way you can order a drink from Starbucks without sounding like a pretentious asshole.
XOXO, Rachel

Dear Diary,
Today Rachel met Peter Dinklage and she's too shy to talk about it. But I'm ridiculously jealous! Also, last night I went to a beer fest and it was good. Too bad Peter Dinklage wasn't there!
XOXO, Melissa

Fashion Friday!!!!!!

Melissa:
I. WANT. THESE. SHOES. ALL OF THESE SHOES!

Irregular Choice- Flick Flack
Irregular Choice- Spat Attack
Irregular Choice- Courtesan
Irregular Choice: Abigail's Party
Or these shoes! I don't even like shoes! Quick Story: So these are obviously Irregular Choice Shoes. It's a UK shoe company that does the most gorgeous, creative shoes. I went to a place in Downtown Seattle who was having a sale of these. Yeah, sale, meaning that the cheapest shoes were $80 and weren't quite the right size. But how bloody gorgeous are these!? They are expensive as shit and I have no where really to wear them. They're about $120 a pop. And this is why I want to be famous-so I can have these shoes!

PS- speaking of awesome shoes, here are some creative shoes that are fantastic! Incredibly Creative High Heels.

Rachel:
And who could go shoe shopping without looking for a handbag to match? ;)

Harmony's Literate Moment

So there's this middle-aged guy named Humbert and he meats Lolita the daughter of his landlady and she's wicked young and he's wicked old and things get kinda weird....yeah The Shining is kinda gross.

Melissa:
Can we talk about your gross misspelling of the word "meets" especially in relation to underage carnal love?
