Music Monday

Rachel
In my imaginary life, I am ageless. I leap from world to world, through space and time, traveling through Arthur's England, and Froud's Faerie Markets. Mostly I dance. I dance with peasants, with members of the seelie and unseelie courts, with dark princes and ice queens. I dance with strangers, old friends, and people & creatures I will soon come to know. If this imaginary life were a movie, it would be scored by Loreena McKennitt. Her music makes me think of easier stranger days that I have never known. Loreena McKennitt's music seems old and young, hauntingly beautiful, dreadfully sad and wondrously happy.

My favorite song is The Mummers Dance which always makes me think of a glowing golden dense forest in the twilight hours.

It is now I make my confession to the shame of the Quad. I like Loreena McKennitt more than Enya. A sin in the Celtic music world-I know-but McKennitt's music moves me in a way I cannot describe, and in a way Enya's music never could.
